Welcome to Downtown Miami
A Message from the Chairman of the
Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami (Miami DDA)
Downtown Miami is not just evolving, it’s thriving. As we embrace this new era of opportunity, I am honored to begin my tenure as Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami (Miami DDA). Our city center is a dynamic engine of culture, commerce, and connectivity, and the Miami DDA remains committed to advancing its growth.
Since 2012, our Downtown has experienced a 25% increase in overall job growth, cementing its status as the state's financial and innovation capital. Today, Downtown Miami is a hub of economic activity, supporting more than 155,000 jobs.
While the Miami DDA’s core mission includes economic and business development, our impact reaches far beyond innovation and investment. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to enhancing the overall quality of life for our residents, workers, and visitors.
Over the years, the Miami DDA has consistently invested in initiatives that strengthen the fabric of downtown life and foster a true sense of community. Programs like the Permit Clinic have streamlined the path for entrepreneurs and small businesses, while the Business Incentive Grant and Downtown Creative Collaborator Grant programs have empowered local creators and visionaries to bring new energy to our streets. Meanwhile, the Downtown Enhancement Team (DET), and our Downtown Ambassadors work daily to ensure our streets remain clean, safe with police enhancement, and welcoming. Together, these efforts go beyond economics, they help shape a downtown that residents are proud to call home.
The Miami DDA has also proudly supported transformative projects like the Flagler Street Reconstruction, the Miami Baywalk and Riverwalk, The Underline, The Underdeck/Rev. Edward T. Graham “Heritage Trail”, the Tequesta Trail and the Signature Bridge. These public realm improvements aren’t just infrastructure upgrades, they’re statements about our priorities: connectivity, inclusivity, and forward momentum.
Our growth is powered by collaboration. With support from our stakeholders, Downtown Miami is now one of the most desirable places in the country to live and work. More than 100,000 people now call Downtown home, enjoying walkable streets, world-class dining, arts, and boundless career opportunities.
Downtown Miami is a district rich in legacy and ripe with promise. Whether you're looking to invest, grow your business, or experience a uniquely dynamic community, I invite you to join our movement.
