Letter from the Miami Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors Chairman and Executive Director

It’s never been a better time to live, invest in and connect the vibrant community that is Downtown Miami. The drumbeat of enthusiasm continues from the more than 100,000 residents, thousands of businesses and more than six million annual visitors who make Downtown Miami the financial driver for the entire state of Florida, with an economic impact of $38 billion. 

Although the Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) is primarily an economic development and marketing agency charged with bringing businesses, people and visitors to Downtown Miami, we also ensure our community is accessible, safe and attractive for all to enjoy. Our commitment to continuously improve the quality of life of residents while fostering the growth of local businesses has led us to create more jobs in the state than any other district.  

The Miami DDA has played an instrumental part in Downtown Miami’s growth by investing in initiatives that solidify our region as a global incubator for new technology, creating a welcoming environment for both large and small companies, and showcasing our improvements. The Flagler Street Reconstruction Project, Miami Baywalk and Riverwalk, The Underline, The Underdeck and the new Signature Bridge project are just a few of the examples of how these investments come to fruition.

We continue to grow faster and stronger than ever with the support of local leaders, politicians, businesspersons and residents. People choose to live Downtown because the advantages here rival anywhere else in the nation, with a landscape that is rich in legacy and ripe with promise.  

Our economy is flourishing, as new businesses join the 1,000+ enterprises opening their doors daily and new residents bolster our bustling population, drawn in by our pedestrian-friendly streets, dining, arts and cultural offerings, easily accessible transit, and robust job opportunities.
