Basic & Enhanced Services

Basic ServicesWe have developed tracking systems with timetables so the problems don't fall between the cracks.  Our regular dialogue with police, public works, and sanitation are making incremental improvements happen every day.  Downtown has changed significantly in the last five years and will change even more in the next five.  Keeping our local officials current on economic, infrastructure, and quality of life issues and serving as the catalyst to position Downtown for future opportunities is a critical service of the Miami DDA.

Enhanced Services: DET & Ambassadors

In addition to working with local government on improving Downtown, Miami DDA has a couple of programs designed to assist with a clean and safe Downtown that pick-up were regular city services end.

Men and women in yellow polo shirts, picking up litter, removing graffiti, conducting daily trash pick-up, maintaining landscaping, and pressure washing sidewalks, are members of the Miami DDA's Downtown Enhancement Team (DET).  DET members perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance activities throughout the Downtown area with regular service in the Brickell, Central Business, and Media & Entertainment Districts.  The DET program is a partnership with Camillus House that provides formerly homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals an entry-level position in the workforce.

If wondering where to get a passport, find a business, restaurant or event, a friendly Downtown Ambassador wearing a crisp white shirt and DWNTWN baseball cap will be near by to help answer those questions.  Ambassadors are trained to provide residents, tourists, employees and business owners with a variety of information and assistance. Primarily concentrated in the Central Business District, Ambassadors can be found during the work week or Saturday mornings.  This year in partnership with the Miami Community Redevelopment Agency, the Ambassador service area has expanded to the Media & Entertainment District patrolling the area on event nights and ready to assist with directions, parking information and an escort to the car if needed.
